Home Sweet Home:

The Ultimate Solution for Transitional and Temporary Housing

PRESS RELEASE

Today’s global society is also a mobile one. Each year, whether temporary or permanent, more people face the task of relocating. Often, such transition requires seeking the impersonal accommodations of a hotel.

An innovative solution that provides an alternative to the atmosphere and expense of hotels is corporate housing. Generally defined as furnished rental units with flexible leases, corporate housing provides a “home away from home,” usually for durations of 30-90 days.  And since almost all corporate housing units are Class A properties, the stay is a comfortable—if not luxurious—one. Some companies even offer added amenities such as home offices, accommodations for children and pets and concierge services.

First recognized in the mid-1980s, corporate housing has become a $2.3 industry complete with its own trade association, the Corporate Housing Providers Association (CHPA). From 2000 to 2001, overall growth was strong at 15%.

While the industry is a lucrative one, the prices are surprisingly competitive. In fact, the price per day is actually less than most hotels. And when per-diem costs of dining out versus cooking at home are figured in, corporate housing is much more cost-effective.

Perhaps the biggest benefit to companies footing the bill for corporate housing costs, however, lies not in the bottom line but in improved employee relations. Research reveals that employees rate the most important aspect in determining their job loyalty as whether management values the importance of workers’ lives outside of work. Obviously, providing a comfortable “home away from home” where family and pets are welcome addresses this concern head-on.

In the Sacramento market, corporate housing residents are most often from companies in the technology or medical sectors. Many international consultants and military personnel also utilize this service in the Valley area.

“The most popular areas in the Valley for corporate housing are Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Rocklin, Roseville, Natomas and downtown Sacramento,” says Jodi Truscott, Director of Sacramento’s Corporate Lodging Solutions.

Corporate Lodging Solutions, a member of the CHPA, serves the corporate housing needs of the greater Sacramento area. A local company, Corporate Lodging Solutions provides personalized service and attention to detail.

“Each apartment is custom-designed for the client,” says Truscott. “We don’t do ‘cookie cutter’ anything.”

Perhaps such attention to detail can be explained, in part, by the fact that Corporate Lodging Solutions is a woman-owned company.

“We realize that we’re creating clients’ living atmospheres, and that’s an important task that we take very seriously,” says Truscott. “After all, at the end of the day, it’s nice to come home—no matter where you are.”
